MAKE SURE Your Contractor OFFERs A MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY
You definitely want the roofing contractor your hire to offer a manufacturer’s warranty. We are hoping that things don’t go wrong, but realistically we know they sometimes do. Wear and tear can happen to your roof and if your contractor doesn’t cover workmanship then you could come out of pocket to repair your roof. With Southern Pro Restoration, we offer our Golden Pledge Warranty through our manufacturer, GAF. So you are covered for up to 25 years (restrictions may apply).
Check for proper licensing and insurance
Here at Southern Pro Restoration, we are an open book. We are fully licensed and insured, and have yours and our best interest in mind. We have seen plenty of “roofing companies” in our area that are not insured and are still putting on roofs because they are “cheaper” than the average roofing company. So, beware of who you hire and do your research.
Pay Your own deductible and file your own claim
We, as a company, are not allowed to cover your deductible as part of our overhead. That has to be paid by you, the insured. Therefore, when searching for a roofing contractor, do not go with the company that says they will cover your deductible with their own costs. They are not running their business correctly and are actually breaking the law.
In addition, all homeowners are required to file their own claim. We do not do that for you as it is also against the law. Homeowners have to file that initial claim. Now, that does not mean we cannot talk to your insurance company once the claim has been filed in order to get updates from them, we just cannot initiate any claim that is not personally ours.
